Heelys Inc introduces its broadest, most colorful line yet of popular wheel-in-the-heel footwear for 2008, including the company’s first ever hiking-style boot, “Rumble,” just in time for Holiday 2007.
The “Rumble” is a giant step forward for the Heelys line. It’s the company’s first wheeled hiking boot and continues to demonstrate the brand’s versatility. The suede upper, available in black, brown or wheat has a casual look ideal for wear in colder weather, but with added features such as ankle support and a Mega wheel to provide more surface area for a faster, smoother ride and easier maneuvering.
“Teens and tweens have long been known for their style-consciousness and we must continue to expand our offering to remain relevant additions to today’s wardrobes,” said Heelys, Inc. Vice President of Design and Development Bob Byrne. “Our 2008 line brings lots of excitement and versatility to Heelys through vibrant colors, new materials, diverse styles, and personalization.”
Proof of this commitment is Heelys “Ninja,” also available for the holiday 2007 season. “Ninja” is the first Heelys model to offer a Mega wheel in a low-profile skater-style shoe. “Ninja” features a graffiti-patterned wheel and a synthetic suede upper available in either a white/black/red graffiti print, a sporty white/navy, or a sleek black with red/white color scheme.
For 2008, custom wheels are the big story in addition to new styles and colors. “If you’re talking about Heelys you have to talk about the wheels,” said Byrne. “We’re adding new colors, new collectible graphics and new performance models to give wearers their own unique look, aftermarket upgrade options and customized skating experience.”
New wheel offerings include performance wheels such as Speed Formula and low-friction Diamond Cut Wheels, plus collectible FATS wheels in new fun and funky styles such as multi-color checks, graffiti, skull and crossbones, stars and logos. Matching custom laces give yet another way for wearers to personalize their Heelys.
Other new styles coming in Spring ’08 include the “UFO,” a streamlined athletic shoe with a clear heel that displays the wheel, great for displaying collectable wheels. The new “Flirt” is Heelys’ first canvas footwear, available in a wide variety of patterns, colors and finishes.
The “Five O” features a hard nylon grind plate for even more performance versatility. The “Trick” incorporates emblematic designs prominently featuring the Heelys logo in several high-contrast color schemes with faux vulcanized styling.
