All-Nautilus lineup in updated Phoenix Suns training center

07-12-04

Like a rising phoenix, the leading brand in fitness is preparing to recapture its leadership in Arizona with on-the-ground presence and a new deal to provide an all-Nautilus lineup in the updated Phoenix Suns training center.

A 30-piece assortment of Nautilus equipment is being installed this month to help the Phoenix Suns prepare for a fourth straight trip to the playoffs.

The custom-designed assortment includes eight cardio units, including elliptical, treadmills and the company's novel TreadClimber product, along with more than 20 circuit strength and free-weight products from Nautilus, the company synonymous with commercial fitness excellence.

"We wanted to provide our athletes the best equipment available and Nautilus wanted to create a high-profile presence in the region, so we decided to work together to achieve both goals," said Erik Phillips, Assistant Athletic Trainer, Strength and Conditioning Coach of the Phoenix Suns.

"Working on the equipment has resulted in nothing but favorable feedback from both the players and staff and has fit nicely into our model of performance enhancement."

The agreement involves equipping the facility with the latest Nautilus equipment and granting prospective Nautilus customers access to the fitness center during off-peak times.

The Suns' installation signifies a change in the way Nautilus serves its commercial clientele in key markets. Previously, Nautilus equipment was only available through transaction-driven distributors or dealers, who represent multiple brands from numerous companies.

"With a brand new line of strength and cardiovascular equipment, we are eager to introduce our innovative new products to clubs, teams, sports and community facilities, along with corporate facilities and living complexes throughout the greater Phoenix area and the desert southwest," said Tim Joyce, Senior Vice President of Global Sales for Nautilus Inc, based in Vancouver, Wash.

"We are raising the standard for customer service by hiring key personnel locally to represent our complete line in major markets with high demand for fitness equipment, such as Arizona."

Joyce said Phoenix resident Laurie Stamas has been hired to represent Nautilus in the region. A former regional manager for consumer products company Procter & Gamble, Stamas is active in the Phoenix community through the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Scottsdale Christian Academy, Valley Youth Theater, Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, and the Phoenix Cotillion where she serves as a board member.
