Fila announced that it has signed an endorsement agreement with WTA phenomenon Agnes Szavay. The agreement with Szavay signals Fila's on-going commitment to tennis as a core category and continues the company's legacy of sponsoring elite tennis champions. 2007 was a breakthrough season for the 18-year-old Szavay. After winning 2 singles titles, reaching the final in New Haven and competing in her first Grand Slam Quarter Final, her WTA ranking rose from 185 to 53 in the first half of the season.
Szavay's junior career was highlighted by a win at Roland Garros and finals appearance at the Australian Open in 2005. On November 12th, Szavay joined the elite and broke into the Top 20 of the WTA ranking.
In 2008, Szavay will debut Fila's tennis performance collection which was inspired by Fila's tennis fashions from the 70s, in a striking red, black and white color palette at the Australian Open. Fila will incorporate Szavay and other sponsored athletes in a women's product and marketing campaign in 2008.
With sponsorships of the Pacific Life Open, Sony Ericsson Open, Internazionali d'Italia and the Campbell's Hall of Fame Tennis Championships, Fila is committed to establishing a leadership role in tennis.
