Keep your face clean, soft, and baby-smooth with these quick and easy facial recipes. You'll find that most of the ingredients are already in your pantry!
Milk Wash
For dry or sensitive skin, this recipe can't be beat. Make a thin paste out of skim milk powder and water and wash your face with this mixture instead of soap. Rinse well and apply Herbal Milk Toner.
Honey Purifying Scrub
Mix 1 tbsp. of honey with 2 tbsp. finely ground almonds and 1/2 tsp. lemon juice. Massage gently onto face and rinse well with warm water. Apply toner.
Herbal Milk Toner
This is a terrific toner for sensitive, sunburned or chapped skin. Combine 2 tbsp. dried or 1 tbsp. fresh chopped herbs (we recommend lavender, calendula, lemon balm, or mallow) and 2/3 cup boiling milk into a bowl or pitcher. Cover and leave until cool. Strain through muslin or cheesecloth and store in a sterilized bottle or jar in the refrigerator.
Mint Skin Toner
To create a refreshing skin toner that will hydrate and clean your pores, mix 1 cup witch hazel, 1/4 cup white vinegar and 1/4 tsp. mint extract. For good measure, drop in a couple of fresh peppermint leaves. Dab on your face with a cotton ball and apply moisturizer.
Rosy Skin Toner Recipe
For a rosy glow that lasts all day, combine 1/2 cups witch hazel, 1/2 cup dried rose petals, and 5 sprigs of rosemary. Mix ingredients until blended well, then strain with cheesecloth or muslin. Splash onto skin or dab with a cotton ball and apply moisturizer.
Frankincense Facial Mist
A favorite to erase wrinkles is made with ten drops frankincense in 4 oz. of water. Pour into a mister and spray onto skin throughout the day.
Anti-Wrinkle Honey Rose Lotion
Mix 2 tbsp. glycerine, 2 tbsp. rosewater, 2 tbsp. witchhazel, and 4 tbsp. honey in a small jar. Refrigerate: apply nightly to a clean, dry face after toner.
Soft Skin Lotion Recipe
Steep 1 cup dried chamomile in 1 cup milk for 2-3 hours. Strain, keeping liquid, and add 4 tbsp. honey and 8 tsp. wheat germ. Blend, pour into a bottle and refrigerate (keeps up to a week). Apply to clean face after toner.
Body
Soft Hands
Before you go to bed, lavish on the Vaseline and then pop on a pair of cotton gloves. Your hands will be unbelievably soft by morning.
Moisturizer Alternative
After your bath or shower, rub almond oil into your skin. Combine with a few drops of your favorite essential oil (try peppermint or lavender) to leave your skin feeling extra smooth and silky.
Rough Elbows
If you have scaly, dry elbows, try this treatment before you shower at night. Halve a lemon, squeeze the juice out, and sit with your elbows in the lemon cups for 10 minutes. The acids in the lemon will gently exfoliate your skin and leave you smelling lemony-fresh!
Natural Exfoliator
Rub sea salt on damp skin for a smooth and taut feeling. This is excellent for delicate skin.
Insect Bite Treatment
Mix 4 tbsp. water, 2 tbsp. baking soda, and 1 drop almond essential oil in a bowl until they form a paste. Apply paste to insect bite and let it sit for 15-20 minutes. Rinse well with warm water and do not rub.
Moles
To lighten brown moles apply Caster Oil to the mole with a cotton ball. You should notice a difference within about 3 weeks.
